I recently replaced the battery on an iPhone 6s Plus and after the repair the front-facing camera and microphone are no longer working. The only way to make calls is to use a headset.
I’ve taken the phone apart again and re-seated all of the connectors that had been removed, yet the problem persists. I’m thinking it could be a logic board problem, but perhaps its the flex cable for the camera?

Always rule out parts problems first.
While replacing the battery, you may have damaged the flex cable for the front camera and sensor (which includes the microphone). Did you completely disconnect the screen to replace the battery or did you leave it connected?
So I would double check the condition of the flex to insure it doesn’t have any tears. If it looks fine and it appeared to be well connected, then you could try a replacement flex. If that doesn’t work, then you may have a logic board issue.

No, I did not completely disconnect the display assembly. I was pretty careful but I will try replacing the flex cable. It would be nice to revive this phone.
Is there not a microphone down by the home button as well? What is odd is that if you make a call the person on the other end can’t hear you unless you plug in a headset. The two issues seem to be at opposite ends of the phone…if you’ll follow my logic?
There are 3 microphones in the iPhone.

* The bottom microphone is for Voice Memo and phone calls. The other microphones serve as error cancellation
* The (top) front microphone is used for FaceTime calls, Siri and selfie videos with the front camera (FCAM). The top back microphone serves as error cancellation
* The (top) back microphone is used for videos with the rear camera (RCAM). The top front microphone serves as error cancellation.
Make sure you update your device to the latest version of iOS and then try to isolate which microphone is not working properly by trying each individual microphone with the related apps above. If the issue affects more than one microphone, then it could be the Audio Codec IC on the logic board.
Anything at the logic board level will require micro-soldering so you would need to find a repair shop that offers those services.

Apple replaced my battery. Same issue, couldnt hear after making a call. Duh, they turned on my Bluetooth which I never did before. Turned it off and bingo! That problem solved! Only to discover my front facing camera is now black. Going back to apple tomorrow to complain!
