Won't turn on, what are these capacitors?

Hi,

My macbook pro A1150 won’t turn on and smells burnt.

I have capacitors marked “33 C65“ but I don’t know exactly what they are and I don’t find these on the schematics for this board. The track also seems damaged.

Can you tell me what they are and if I can replace them with not tantalum ones ?

you will not find the capacitors with that descriptor on your schematic. Those are manufacturers number and you will have to try and find out who made it and then find the datasheet. The first marking would be for a 33µF capacitor. The interesting part here is that your board should not have those caps where your image shows them. I attached the image of what should be there and added the reference designators. Since you do have the schematic you should find those easily. Those parts are only a few $ and could possibly fix your board. I am all for repairing things (or at least trying) before tossing them into the landfill and adding to our already poluted planet.

You may find them listed as no stuff on your board schematic but could be a different version of the same board. Again, those caps shown do not get listed and should not be there. Also, look at your solder pads. It appears as if this board does not have any of the components soldered in that area. Clean your board and post some more images and let us know the exact 820-XXXX number on your board.

Thank you !

THat's it , I'm not into electronics but I thought something was wrong with those caps from what I have been able to decipher from the schematics and the boardview file. They weren't meant to be here.

I'll clean the board and take more pictures. As for the board number, it's 820-1993-A

just verified this and it's the same as in the original answer.

Take a look at how the RAM slot plastic seems to be melted. In my opinion you are wasting your time trying to repair this board, it’s just to far gone.

Thank you for your answer. I am responsible for the melted RAM socket, I touched it with my iron when trying to remove the capacitor :/Do you know anything about those “33 c65” ?

board level repairs are not my forte, to much work and not enough reward

As @mayer pointed out that Logic Board you show in the picture looks like it is toast. Waste of time trying to repair it because other things may also be damaged. It’s simply just a wild goose chase. If you want this computer operational again I would simply get a new Logic Board.

You will need to re-apply thermal paste too if you decide that you will buy the new Logic Board.
