Wireless Adapter Removing itself when GPU is being used heavily

Hi!

NOTE: I COULD NOT LOCATE MY DEVICE IN THE SELECTION REFER BELOW FOR IT

Whenever I use my Laptop (Acer Aspire E575G-50MF) for intense games such as GTA V, a short time after the game has started the Wireless Adapter removes itself from my device, I cannot add it in device manager (either by scanning for hardware changes or installing the drivers) and it doesn’t show me the adapter again until I reboot/lightly hit the back of it while its shut down. In the event view, this is what comes up under Windows Logs > System:

General Details:

Qualcomm Atheros QCA9377 Wireless Network Adapter : Has determined that the network adapter is not functioning properly.

This is really frustrating and only has been happening for the 2 months. I have reinstalled windows and it temporarily fixed it. Seems to be fine when running now programs, just games.

Starting to think that this is a hardware problem… not entirely sure…. any help would be appreciated.

Edit: Did some research and some person stated that BT is causing a conflict with the Wifi adapter, I do use the Bluetooth but its not required - I use it to connect to my phone so I can receive notifs and calls from my phone on my PC. other forum is here

Hi @v_s1 ,

Have you got the latest BIOS version installed?

Have you got the latest OS appropriate WLAN drivers installed?

You didn't say

Have you tried disabling the 'Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power" option in Device Manager > Network Adapters > right click WLAN entry > Properties > Power Management.

Just some thoughts.

@jayeff

BIOS: I don't think that I do, I currently have "v1.29" installed - not entirely sure how to safely update my BIOS.

OS and appropriate WLAN Drivers: Yes - Driver verion "12.0.0.722" (22/08/2018)

Device Manager: No I haven't done that - I don't see why it would apply if I am constantly on AC.

Hi @v_s1 ,

There is usually a readme file associated with a BIOS download that explains the procedure regarding updating the firmware.

It does not take into account whether you have backed up your data in case it fails etc

The latest version is 1.47

Here's a link to the support page.

As to the save power option, I didn't know that you're were operating constantly on AC, you didn't mention it until now.

My thinking was that the power might be being prioritized to enable better performance of the GPU etc when you were playing games and any "deemed unnecessary" hardware would be turned off.
