iPhone stuck on "waiting for iPhone" when trying to restore from DFU

I have a dead iphone. Managed the charge the iPhone externally, and itunes detects it in DFU mode, but the screen stays black. When I try to restore, it gets stuck on "waiting for iPhone". Eventually getting error 4014 when unplugging.

I have also tried flashing with 3uTools, but i get to 11% and "ERROR: Unable to switch DFU mode to Recovery Mode."

Any advice? Thanks.

I have the same problem and now I have fixed it, it’s due to NAND ic , if the phone didn’t entered in recover mode by pressing the volume down button then its dead sure due to NAND ic, so just reball the NAND and your cell phone be OK, but it’s need level 4 experience to reball tha NAND , if you are inexperienced then plz don’t attempt.

I had a seeming problem, I only entered DFU and when it was time to change to recovery, I did not try to change many cables to usb ports and there was no case. I opened it after so many attempts and discovered the disconnected battery. I plugged it in and then I could flash. The comment is for someone who will experience the same in 2021

Error 4014 on the iPhone 6 is usually caused by a corrupted NAND. This can be repaired but it does require a micro-soldering repair as you suspected.

Hey, sorry for the late response. Does this just require you replacing the NAND and nothing else?

I've had the same kind of recurring error when trying DFU restores with 3Utools virtualized in Mac with Parallels. Of course it doesn't happen if I put iPhones simply into restore mode. I'd consider trying this alternative too before getting into such important repair, it just takes 10 minutes and nothing to lose.

That seems bad. I would be scared that’s board level. Try first new PC. new cable.

Well I have tried everything. Different battery, lighting port, no screen. The CPU area also gets hot really quick. Guessing it is board level, which I don't have the skill set to fix.

You would need to replace the eMMC. You would need to reball and resolder it. Then copy the files through special equipment. Strange Parts on Youtube has made a well made video. It took him many boards to do it correctly, so i think you should send it to some specialist
