Check BIOS settings for default display.

Resetting the System Setup (BIOS) to its Default Settings

  1. Reboot the computer.
  2. When you see the Dell logo during POST, press the <F2> key to enter the setup screen.
  3. On the System Setup screen, click Load Defaults.
  4. Confirm to load the defaults.

I am aware that his edit is a “bit” late for Irtaza but may be helpful for others.

First download and save the pdf Dell Service Manual:

https://dl.dell.com/topicspdf/inspiron-1...

This will also show you how to disconnect the CMOS/BIOS coin battery for a complete reset. Remember to unplug charger/pwoer supply and remove main laptop battery before openning up case. Remove or disconnect coin battery, press power button for 15 seconds and reassemble.

Then run the DELL diagnostics:

https://www.dell.com/support/home/en-nz/...

to identify any possible obvious hardware defect. This could avoid wasting time.

Windows 10 two most common problems, in my experience, is not booting up correctly and corrupted video drivers - which can be very subtle. So clearly this is a driver issue in this case. What I do in this situation is completely remove all trace of video drivers. My favourite tool is freeware Display Driver Uninstaller (DDU). https://www.wagnardsoft.com/

What it does is remove all traces of the current drive - folders, inf files, registry, etc. The result is that Windows boots into that generic VGA driver (Safe Mode uses this). Make sure you have the latest video drivers downloaded and ready. There are two. Which is yours?

  1. nVIDIA GeForce GTX and Quadro Graphics Driver 20 Jun 2019
  2. Intel HD Graphics Driver 23 Apr 2018

Also make sure the BIOS is upgraded to the latest:

This Microsoft page may help the understanding but DO use DDU.

You should be good after reinstalling the latest graphics/video driver.

Irtaza Raja  if it displays on the laptops LCD screen in Linux but not Windows it will be your Windows OS that has issues. The HDMI display is a good sign as well since you know that your GPU circuitry etc. is all working as should. Try a new Windows install. Of course you did not say that it displays on the laptop LCD. So if you are using an external monitor for all OS’s then there is the possibility that this is your screen.

So it displays Linux on the computers LCD?

yes linux runs fine on laptop lcd

It cannot be a hardware issue since it does work with a different OS. What happens when you do a complete reinstall of windows?

same results, just changed little bit.. like now when i press my power button it starts beep beep ... so if i have to use linux i have to connect hdmi and than press the the power button it runs fine on hdmi when its boots into linux i unplug the hdmi and laptop display work fine than.. n right now i am reply using linux without hdmi ,

same Technic is not useful on window, it works fine in hdmi mode but when i unplug the hdmi screen doesn't turn on ..
