No picture has backlight and sound

Vizio D50u-d1 No picture has backlight and sound on the bottom of the screen in both left and right corners of the screen there are white spots showing on screen, bought repair kit from shop Jimmy. Installed all the new boards and TV is still like it was before I did anything to it no change at all. Contacted Shop Jimmy they said LED Strips. Now I’m questioning that because it has plenty of light coming thru the back of TV as though LED’s are working my question is if just one of the LED’s on the strip are bad would just one or two bad LED’s make the whole screen black

Hi @bigpapaj ,

Can you detect a picture at all when shining a torch at an angle close to the screen?

If you can and since you have replaced the boards it's looking like the LED strips. If you can't it may be the TCON board or connection or the panel itself.

Did you replace the mainboard before as well?

Yes all of the boards including tcon board have been replaced

One or two bad LEDs could stop a strip from working but you're not even getting the images there so it's looking like a panel problem or perhaps a connection from the TCON to the panel problem.

The TCON connects to the tabs which are connected to the panel and sometimes some of these can come loose from the panel (giving vertical black lines or strips on the screen) but it is a bit hard to imagine that all of them have come loose at the same time

Looking online there are panel testers but may be to expensive for a one-off repair.

Besides replacing the panel (and good luck finding a replacement) I don't know how to test it.
