My computer had a stroke, what do I do?

All of a sudden trying to upload a YT video the Mac started spazzing out and shut down. Now there are random lines across the display and it’s stuck on the startup screen.

Can you give us your exact model.

Look at the bottom cover hopefully you can read the S/N and then plug it into here EveryMac - Lookup. Let us know what you find.

I'd put money on it being the 2011 15" MBP

@mayer - Likely ;-}

Plug the serial number from the back of your machine in here and then tell us what you have:

UPDATE 11/6/19

That the exact machine I was betting on. Your GPU has gone bad. This is a very well know issue on this model. Apple was repairing it for free for a while but that program is over.

Best thing to try is installing gfxCardStatus. This will enable you to turn off the dual graphics. It works OK but limits your ability on graphic intensive programs like PhotoShop:
