Why is my tv in mute without the mute button on?

My tv went mute last night but I click the mute button on and off and nothing happens. It remains mute. I went to settings/soundout / it's on optical, is that correct?

Norma Maldonado that depends on how and what you have connected. Let us know what your TV's model is so we can try to assist you.

Hi,

Do you have anything connected to the optical output port on the TV, like a soundbar or stereo receiver etc?

If nothing connected switch the TV sound setting back to TV or internal speakers or whatever is indicated for the sound to come from the TV and not an external speaker system

I have a 2013 non smart LG tv and it mutes itself. I notice it when I have my HDMI cord connected to my phone for 4-10 minutes

my tv is lg tv 55un73 and iam facing same problem when i mute iy the sound close ok for 1 minute maybe and then it self again start volume

Open the Settings menu either by using the button on your remote or if your remote doesn't have a Settings button, press the Home/Smart button, then click the Settings icon.
Navigate to the Audio/Sound menu.
Choose Sound Out, then select TV Speakers.

Try this! This might help you!

I found this to be 100% accurate. It was entirely mute I tried everything that was suggested. Thank you this works perfectly
