power to laptop but no screen
dell inspiron n5050 no screen, there is power to the laptop, error code = seven short rings. can anybody help ?

Hi,
According to this link a 7 beep error code is a CPU failure.
Here’s a link to the owner’s manual for the laptop.
Scroll to p.47 to view the necessary pre-requisite steps and then the procedure to remove/replace the CPU.
You are lucky that it is a removable CPU as in most laptop’s these days the CPU is hard mounted on the systemboard.
You should be able to get a replacement CPU but there is nothing to say that it is actually a CPU problem or whether it is a problem on the systemboard that affects the CPU.
You can take a chance and replace it and see what happens.
If you do decide to replace it make sure that the fan and thermal vent are clean and free of dust etc., and that the fan works
