I think my HD broke. And it won’t let me boot up into recovery mode

I lightly dropped my Mac on my bed and it shut down almost instantly. If I reboot, it loads the bar on the apple screen 2/3 and then freezes. It does this when I enter recovery mode as well. Even internet recovery, once it loads and I select either the existing drive or my external backup drive, it loads 2/3 and freezes. I haven’t been able to get to where I can run a diagnostic on the HD. Is my HD broken? It is not SSD. I bought a replacement for the original a year ago and it broke in Jan and was replaced under warranty. I’m thinking it may have broken again, but want to be sure before buying a new one.
