HDMI PIN 18 issue

Hello everyone,

I bought PS4 with faulty HDMI port to fix it, learn something and get some practise. I am now waiting for my new HDMI port, but I have noticed something on the bord. As I checked conductivity between PADs and points from the diagram, I found, that PIN 18 is not connected to the capacitor on the right side(18).

I have also noticed that the back side of the diode and capacitor(Yellow dots) are connected and both shorted to ground.( Front side of the diode and capacitor Is connected too, but not shorted to ground.) Is that right ? I dont have another board to compare with. And if yes, where does PIN 18 go? Could that be an Encoder IC fault?

Where can I get that? Theres SAB-001 on motherboard, Is that it?

Yes, the PIN doesnt match the video

youll want to remove the component that doesnt match and test out of circuit. if it tests good, place it back and continue. something is shorted. it could very well be the hdmi contoller. i would start there and recheck the pinouts.

@jostewcrew so I have desoldered the diode and capacitor and noticed, that I have 3 pins on the HDMI controller (firts 3 from the left side behind the HDMI filters) shorted together. Dont you know where they should connect ? And when I removed the components, the pin Now connect to the right place

Sorry, not only First 3, also some that Are connected to HDMI filters are shorted with first 3 pins

Hi, I have the same problem, maybe someone could give us feedback about value of this cap and diode from working MB. For me its 1,5 Ohms from the left side of thie components.

Capacitor and the diode are both grounded (caps negative if polarized diodes non-striped side)

Capacitor is noise filter

Diode is a protection for polarity

Both are for local part of circuit
