Torn foil during battery replacement
I tore some black foil see picture. how bad is it? can i continue with assemply?

To put your mind at ease I can guarantee where you have the tear will have absolutely no effect on the operation of your phone. The sim tray is directly under this piece and doesn’t require any heatsink I don’t know why they covered it to start with unless it was for cosmetic reasons. If it doesn’t stay down just cut a small bit of double sided tape and stick it back down if you want it to look nice.

it wouldn’t bother me honestly. if i later would experience overheating i would probably buy some new foil on ebay but otherwise i would just leave it as is.

yes all that foil does is just help facilitate heat flow

This answer is so fundamentally wrong you need to delete this or correct it.
ok well what does it do then because ive worked on plenty of iphone 8s and can tell you its not for shielding
@nick can you lend us your knowledge? i just pushed the little bit of foil that had come up, back down... it rests there fine... thanks
if your talking about the foil on the mother board it does help heat if your talking about the white adhesive that holds the battery down no it doesnt
@lbsocal12 That looks like it's part of the RF compliance if you're talking about the tape over the shields.
I've taken my downvote back. Thought you were referring to the Command battery tabs.
