Why is my display showing this?

Hi all, my MacBook Pro is displaying a predominately white screen with a dark border around the screen and vertical lines on the right-hand side of the display.

These lines fade over time, but are still (barely) visible.

There are no cracks on the LCD and no noticeable dents on the display as far as I can tell.

I can use my laptop in clamshell mode with an external monitor without any issues. I’ve wiped the SSD and reinstalled macOS twice and I have also tried NVRAM/SMC resets multiple times without any luck.

What do I need to do to rectify this issue? Would I need to replace the LVDS cable, or would I have to replace the entire display? Or is there another possible solution?

Thanks in advance!

Ouch! This looks like two different issues! The Red & Green banding is a T-CON failure within the display assembly. And the telescope look is caused when the defuser sheets having curled from heat damage up or gotten wet from a spill.

In any case the solution is the same your internal display needs replacement! Here’s part info:

Sadly, these are very hard to find. You might find one which has anti-defective coating failure which you can clean off.
