Turning an iMac / Thunderbolt Display into an external DisplayPort mon
I have a LM270WQ1 (SD)(B3) LG TFT panel from an old Thunderbolt Display that died.
I want to convert this display into an external monitor and tried using the tutorials I found here:
LM270WQ1 (SD) (B3) Controller board
Planning to repurpose the display, can I repurpose the speakers too?
iMac turned into external monitor, backlight issue
Also I have this datasheet: LM270WQ1-SDB3-LG.pdf
I bought some power converters to achieve both 12 V (LCM power) as well as 36 V (Backlight power). I got the backlight running it looks good, however the display itself does not work.
I connected Option_1 to DP Config_1 and Option_2 to DP Config_2 as well as GND and Hot Plug Detect to a DisplayPort female connector.
When connecting the LCM 12 V both Option_1 and Option_2 are closed to GND.
My first attempt was to connect Main Link 0 - 4 as they are named in the datasheet with a DisplayPort connector. The display was not found on my PC (I’m using Linux for testing).
Then I found out on Wikipedia, that “the sink-side connector pinout will have lanes 0–3 reversed in order; i.e., lane 3 will be on pin 1(n) and 3(p) while lane 0 will be on pin 10(n) and 12(p).” (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DisplayPor...). So I switched that up and connected
Monitor Main Link 3 N to DisplayPort pin 1
Monitor Main Link 3 P to DisplayPort pin 3
…
Monitor Main Link 0 N to DisplayPort pin 10
Monitor Main Link 0 P to DisplayPort pin 12
Which did not work either.
I know that every major tutorial online uses an LVDS board that does all of that for me, but they cost 90 $, which I don’t have (especially because I don’t know whether the display works at all).
Thanks for any help in advance!"
