The first series of Sony Ultrabooks announced in January of 2012. Repairing this device will require screwdrivers and prying tools. The T13 series of laptops were offered in two flavors; the first with an i5 processor, 4GB of RAM and a Dual HDD setup (32GB SSD + 500GB HDD), and the second with an i7 processor, 6GB of RAM, and a 256GB SSD.

Is it possible to replace the webcam part on this?

Long story short, my webcam is broken and I’d like to replace it. Is that possible?

If so- what laptop webcam parts are compatible with this laptop? I feel the need to note that I’ve never opened my laptop before, so this will be my first venture into fixing it. Any amount of detail or information about fixing this webcam issue is appreciated.

Hi,

Just verifying that the camera is physically broken and that it is not a software problem with the camera?

If it is not broken, what is its status in Device Manager?

If it is broken then here’s the ifixit Sony Vaio SVT131A11L Display Replacement guide, that should help in accessing the camera board and replacing it.

In the image in Step.20 of the guide, the camera module can be seen above the LCD panel.

The hard part might be finding a replacement camera board. Searching online for a Sony Vaio SVT131A11L camera gives no results. You may have better luck.

You could try searching online using the camera board number(found on the board itself) to hopefully find a replacement board
