I have an iMac Intel 27" EMC 2639 and the screen seems to be broken but, the LCD is still in good condition. Would an appropriate replacement part be Item code: IF174-028-1. The model EMC 2639 is not listed there but, will the part fit and work in the same way?

Sorry to say the older model glass won’t work in your system. Apple made a major change in the design in 2012 to a unitized display assembly the cover glass and LCD panel are glued together and the magnetic mechanical mount gave way to double stick tape!
You will need a new display assembly 27” iMac LCD Display Panel & Front Glass Assembly (12/13), Apple P/N 661-7169 and here’s the guide iMac Intel 27" EMC 2639 Display Replacement and you’ll need this kit iMac Intel 27" (2012-2019) Adhesive Strips

FixIt gurus: Where can I get a I purchase a replacement Glass Panel for late 2013 27" iMac (EMC 2639). Any pointers?
@Kris Thompson - There is no Glass Panel the visible surface is bonded to the LCD panel. All you can do is replace the full assembly which is available from a few sources, I’ve listed one here.
