I have to put out my battery to turn my laptop on.

Hello there, last night my laptop worked smoothly and i truned it off properly. This morning i was unable to switch it on. The power buttom simply not working as the battery is totally exhausted. Then, i put my battery out and plug the adapter to turn my laptop on. After turning it on, i put the battery back to its place. Guess what, it was 50% charged. The battery gets charging up as usual. I finished my work and shut it down. Next time, when i reopened the same problem occured. I have to go through the same steps every time to open my laptop. Is there any defect in my battery? Or some hardware issue? Please help me if anyone has suffered the same.

Hi,

Even though it shows that the battery may be fully charged, it may be failing to hold its charge and what is left may be insufficient to start the laptop.

If you have Win10 installed, allow the battery to fully charge and then create a battery report to check the status of the battery.

Compare the Design Capacity value versus the Full Charge Capacity value. For a good battery they will nearly be the same.

If the battery is faulty here’s the maintenance and service guide, taken from this support webpage for the laptop.

Go to p.39 to view the necessary pre-requisite steps and then the procedure to remove/replace the battery. At the top of the page is the HP part number for the battery. Search online using the part number only to find suppliers that suit you best.
