Haier HW60-1203-DF: Motor stopped working after it was cleaned

Hello,

My Haier washing machine is almost 6 years old. Two weeks ago it stopped working during a wash cycle, and showed Error 7, which is a problem with the motor. An engineer friend came to look at it, checked all the connections (which were fine), then took the motor home for further investigation.

At first, he couldn’t get a reading on his meter, but after cleaning the motor, it started working. He came tonight to re-install it in the machine and to test it. I started a wash cycle, and the motor worked, but after about 20 minutes it stopped and started flashing Error 7 again.

What could be the problem?

Thanks very much for your help!

@cyndacats have your friend do the resistance reading of the motor winding and follow the troubleshooting diagram

If all of that works out okay check on the overload, abnormal voltage and run the self check to see if there is anything unusual coming up

Depending what this all shows, and if all the wiring blocks are properly connected and seated, you may need a new motor. Just make sure that you definitely check the wiring. Loose connectors, corrosion etc. can all play a role with this.

It maybe overheating. Could be a bad bearing on the comutator. When they don't spind fast enough it can't cool itself. The extra heat kinda melts the carbon onto the copper. When it builds up to a point it can't transfer enough power and you get the error. The bearings are cheap like a set for less than $10 but you need to find the right ones. The outer bearing shell size and inner race size dia and something to press old one out and put new one in.
