Battery is charged but laptop stops on unplug

Hello,

I have an ASUS GL503VD laptop and I have an issue with the battery.
The BIOS shows that my battery is 91% charged but when I unplug my laptop, it just stops…

The percentage of the battery is always 91% and does not change at all.

What I tried :

  • Factory reset
  • BIOS reset/update
  • Driver reset/update
  • Open the laptop to unplug/plug the battery connector

Can someone help me to solve this please ?

same issue however i replaced the old battery for a new one but still the same issue

What does your bios do if you are looking at it when you unplug the cord?

a new battery did not solve it for me

Which driver did you reset?

Did you try uninstalling the Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery from Device Manager > Battery and then after it has uninstalled restart the laptop and let Windows "find" and install it again? Also check if it has the latest drivers installed. Right click on the entry and click on Update drivers and follow the prompts.

Create a battery report to check the status of the battery. When you have the report, compare the Design Capacity value versus the Full Charge Capacity value to determine it status. With a good battery they should nearly be the same.

As the laptop stays on when the charger is connected, it appears as though it is a hardware problem on the motherboard, i.e. no power into or out of the battery.

What is the model number of the motherboard? It may be necessary to find the schematics for the motherboard and usually they are easier to find when you know the board number than just the laptop name and model number.

Unfortunately I can't find any schematics only boardview links, which doesn't help as they only show the location of components on the motherboard.

Found this link which didn't solve the problem but maybe will give you some ideas of where to look.

It appears that you are not the only one with this problem.

The laptop is 3 years old.

I'll buy a new battery this week to try it
