I bought my camcorder today and when I got it home it powered up and made promising sounds then I put a tape in, and it loaded properly however when put in either playback or camera the tape wont spin or advance and when ejected the camera won't unload the tape and I have to rewind by hand. and when i put the tape into a vcr i see the jumbled overlayed video

I had the exact problem you’re describing, it’s gonna need a belt replacement, it’s fairly simple, the belt is under the main circuit board.

Where did you purchase your belt for the camera?
This is really helpful I've have this exact same issue with my camcorder and just knowing this now I can fix it on my own and it's not just going to sit there and collect dust
