Broken Home Button Cable Lock
Hey Guys,
I have run into a situation with a customer's iPad Air 3 that came in for a screen replacement. The first screen I ordered came with the digitizer broken, returned and had another shipped out same day. The new screen was perfect and worked fine.
My issue is that when I migrated the home button over to the new screen and connected the small cable into the connector but when I went to push the lock down, it actually snapped off immediately. The connector doesn't look damaged but the lock is broken off and cannot just put it back on.
Is there any way to get the home button recognized with the current connector? or should I just need to buy a new screen again? lol

These sometimes come off but they are easy to put back in if you have some magnification. If the lock part is broken you should be able to source another one but to me it looks fine and just needs to be reinstalled onto the connector. The home button should still function but as it is a customer’s device I wouldn’t leave it off.

@hellomacos Ended up putting a couple pieces of clear masking tape on the other side of the contacts and put it into the connector and put a few pieces of tape on both the cable and the connector to hold it in place. This took Many tries to get right but it finally worked. The lock was physically broken and I could not get it to pop back into the connector.
Thank you for the help!
