10% right side of screen top to bottom blocked

At switch on, whole of right side screen top to bottom blocked to 10% across

31 July Thank you for interest and replies, I ended up going to my IT shop, as soon as I switched on the man said the screen was damaged; he has replaced it. Stand down and thanks again. Another lesson learned I hope

Does it do this if starting the laptop in safe mode?

If Win 8.1 here's how to start in safe mode

If Win 10 installed here's how to start in safe mode.

Try connecting an external monitor to the laptop's Display Port and check if its display is OK
