Yep! Using the supplied cables will only given you that! You need to get a Thunderbolt3 cable to get the better performance.

SanDisk does not make note of that in their docs or even on the package that you need a different cable to get the full performance.

Well, they sort of do make note of that - if you read the fine print.

** Up to 2000MB/s read and write speeds. Based on internal testing; performance may be lower depending on host device, interface, usage conditions and other factors. 1MB = 1,000,000 bytes.

@ruggb - They forgot Cable as being the biggest one! This gets into how many data lanes are offered 2 or 4.

@ruggb - I guess they did ;-}

But a hint on the cable would have helped them not hurt them as many people I bet returned the drive without spending the effort to understand why and a TB3 or TB4 cable is not cheap either!

@danj

They did a CYA with "other factors". 2 data lines id a balance config. 4 data lines are available on a USB C cable but if the interface isn't using 4 data lines, it doesn't matter, does it? Actually, I don't know any that do use 4.

@danj yeah, you would have to get their test setup, which they don't publish. Only reviewers would list that.
