Controller is Not connecting

I have a series s/x controller also it is brand new the sync button on my console is broke so I cannot use that and when I plug a charging cable into the controller it has power but will not connect I have tried 2 different charging cables and even unplugged the Xbox for about 10 minutes still did not connect I checked and I don’t currently have any console updates to do
