Power and Volume Button stopped working

I offered my cousin to repair her switch and replace the Left Joystick which wasn't working properly.

Everything worked fine till i reassembled and went to testing. I wasn't able to turn the switch on. After using the charging cable is started itself. Now i figured out that the volume and power button don't work at all. The whole board itself seems to work as all the buttons including the joystick are working. What could it be?

I used the "Change Left joystick" guide on here.

As i assume it could be the power button board itself i ordered a new one and the connection cable between the boards. I just hope I get it back to work as i don't want to replace a whole switch.

Wondering, why could it be the power IC after replacing the Left Joystick..the switch itself is charging. Doesn't the Power IC controls that as well?

What exactly did you disconnect when you replaced the part?

I have disconnected the Battery, the ribbon cable that connects the boards, the power buttons and volume buttons, the speaker, the ribbon cable under the ribbon cable for the power buttons connection. Everything according to the guide on IFixIT

I have done a few more testing, seems like it could be the ribbon cable connecting the two boards.

Now thats what's not working

Power and volume buttons

Minus button

Cross to the right

ZL

Any ideas?

I will check the flex cable connections with a magnifying glass tomorrow for bent or broken pins. I hope that i will also get the new ribbon cable tomorrow to test it out.

What could I test to figure out what the problem could be. I have almost all tools, an i fix it kit, multimeter, magnifying glass.

So i got the new ribbon cable and tested it, no change at all. Any ideas? Could it really be the power IC?

@kiwi00 it could possibly be. I’d disconnect and reconnect everything then try it. If no joy I’m afraid you’ll have to find somewhere that can repair them. What country are you in?
