USB 2.0 works only if I connect something in USB 3.0

Hello,

I have a Lenovo G780 with a strange issue. There are 4 x USB ports, 2 x 2.0 and 2 x 3.0 . Strangely, I got going the USB 2.0 ports, but only If I connect a USB stick to one of the 2 USB 3.0 ports.

The one in the 3.0 does not show up, but if I remove it, it removes the ones in the 2.0 as well.

Tried so far: 3 softwares for driver finder, disabled xhci from BIOS, different ports disabled, disabled and uninstalled in the device manager in different ways all the universal bus devices, reinstalled Windows, getting out the battery and emptying the condensers, tried the low filter and high filter in registry editor, disabled power management on USB, but no luck.

I've noticed that there are 2 Intel chipset, one does nothing when disabled, the other one does.

Hi @alexch46650,

Try enabling USB port4 in BIOS settings.

Hello, I also tried disabled a selected few, disable all, enable all, no difference. That picture is the default setting

@alexch46650

fair enough.

I was looking at the schematic for the motherboard and the block diagram on sheet 2 shows for the USB2.0 port * 3 (left) that (Port 2/Port 3 co-layout with USB3.0 port3/port4) so I wondered why port 4 was disabled and what effect that this would have on the USB2.0 port and also why one of the USB3.0 ports wasn't working.

Nice, thanks for the help. I do not know if it correlated, the 2 EHCI, 1 and 2 are enabled, 1, if I remember, did not took a photo, is ports 1-6 and the second is 7-13. With 1 enabled, same behavior, with 2 enabled, no usb function. I think it relates also to device manager, one of them disabled or uninstalled does nothing, the other one stops the USB.

As a closure, bought a USB hub, I have a USB stick in one 3.0 and it works.

A side note: https://youtu.be/R0ctG-DBSEE for entering advance setup on BIOS on this laptops
