Did I get the right battery

Referring to the attached picture, the positive and negative terminals on ifixit's battery (installed) are different from the original battery. Did I get the correct battery?

Hi @jrossofskb,

what are the battery model numbers on the original battery and the ifixit battery? (should be printed on the battery)

For an iPod Touch 4th Gen A1367 battery it can be either 616 0550 or 616 0551

If the original is neither what is its model number?

Hi @jayeff ,

Thank you for responding. The model number of the original battery is 616-0552 and the new battery's model number is 616-0553.

Thank you.

Did the 0553 battery work for you? Same problem here, wife bought the battery from this site, P/N ends in 0553, the original battery P/N ends in 0552. The only way I can see to align the polarity marks properly is to install the battery with the printing facing down, but this puts the cable on the other side of the case. @rocknbil No, it didn't work. I tried that too and it's as you said.

Best I can find out is the battery model numbers 616 0550, 616 0551, 616 0552 & 616 0553 are all compatible with an iPod Touch 4th Gen A1367.

Looking at your image zoomed in I can't see any polarity markings on the battery connector for the battery that is installed now, is that the problem you're referring to?

If you have a DMM (digital multimeter) you can check the polarity of the battery if it has any charge in it at all.

Set the meter to Volts DC 20V and connect the meter's red lead to the +ve leg of the battery and the black lead to the -ve leg and you will read the voltage. If the polarities are reversed you will still read the voltage but there will be a -ve symbol in front of the reading e.g. -3.5V in lieu of 3.5V

Look at the other end and you'll see that the plus side on the original battery is on the left and the negative is on the right but it's the reverse on the new battery. That's what I'm concerned about.

I'll try what you suggested. Thank you.
