Re-Use Speaker? Adapter needed

Hi,
myself disassembled some HP Wave, sadly, and I thought to re-use the speaker.
I mean, it offers some screws/mount and is pretty decent sound wise, so why not?
However, it has just some 2 pin cable/plug.
The potential candidates where it should get built in however do offer some 4 PIN speaker slot on board, where the plug even is little bigger.
Can i manually pin those into some 4pin connector? Is there even some adapter (cable)? Myself would need to extend length either way just a bit.
Sadly myself is just finding some stuff in regards to buzzers while googling, and this doesnt help.
Personally i do find it curious that this monster has just this 2 pin connector for Power AND audio....

@toddk80 Like many speakers, there is no amp built into this one. It is driven by an amplifier. The two connections are Audio (mono) and Ground, similar to what you would see on home theater speakers.

Yes, it indeed remembers me to some regular non-PC speaker connection towards the station.

However im no audio expert, so would it work with manual wiring, or not?

I mean, the HP Wave simply connected it and did the AMP job, no? So why cannot the new PC do the same?

Is there some cheap adapter which i can buy?

@toddk80 there is most likely not a ready-made adapter. You probably have to make one yourself. Ost some pictures of the connector where it was connected to and where it is going to be connected too. Also, a picture of the wiring on the speaker might help. Post those with your Question. You'll have to edit that.

@toddk80 were you going to remove whatever is connected to the bottom connector? If so, you can most certainly replace it with the wires from the smaller one. Here is the issue, the black wires look like you have 2 speakers connected, so possible a "stereo" output. We really need to know what motherboard you are using. The model for the boards should be printed on it. Post some good pictures of your motherboard with your Question.

@toddk80 I think the last bit we need to know is, if you can determine where the two cables from the speaker connect to. It looks like there is a jumper on the connector....

I had to post this as an answer so i could attach the image. Once we know where the wires go, I will delete it :-)

@toddk80 the small white connector looks like a JST4PL connector and the one on your board looks like either a MPC2 or MPC4. You can remove the wires by using a needle, small nail, brad etc. to push through each corresponding hole on the connector. That will force the latching hook down and while you press down, you can then pull the wire out of the connector. With a new connect you could now cut the wire from the one you no longer need and use the new copper connectors (the ones that come with the connector) and crip those wires on. You could also get a cable that has the MPC2 connector on it and whatever else on the other side. Then cut the other side off and solder your speaker wires to those ends.

I have not found a male JST4PL connector to make an adapter so you don't have to remove the ends from your cables.

It all (4) goes into the Dell front speaker for sure. Would need to disassemble it for taking detailed look, so i guess no option. :-(

@toddk80 if all 4 connect then there might just a be SPKR Detect line on that. That makes things a bit more difficult. Use some test cables, something with some alligator cables and connect your "New" speaker" with those to the connector o see if you will get sound.

Let's see if we can find a motherboard schematic. Just on the other side of your RAM module should be a couple of numbers. Starting by the clip for the CPU. Let us know what those numbers are

@oldturkey03 Really appreciating the efforts here.

This all lead to some kind of super experimental solution.

Even if it would work with your help, i would have the problem with extending the cable.

The cable from the speaker is like not even 10cm length, I would need some extension to up 50-60cmto make it work in my preferred setup.

My initial thought was that there is some cheap adapter for stuff like that on ebay or else, but stupid me not aware of what to look for (connector/adapter naming), but this tells me likely not.

Myself will quit the experiment and likely sell / e-waste speaker.

I will then just use some cheap bluetooth speakers for my uyse.
