Why are my clothes Not getting clean?

The tub doesn't fill enough water to wash clothes

Update (07/24/23)

110 260 12012. I did all the obvious things like checking input filter, hoses and electric. I took the lock mechanism off so I could watch it fill and it barely fill any water

Hi @shelleymar73444

Here's the tech sheet for the washer.

Go to p.2 Activating the Service Diagnostic Test Modes and check what error code is displayed.

The Fault/Error Code Display Method chart on p.3 shows how to interpret the status LEDs to find the error code number.

See p.6-p.7 for the error code description and what to check.

For your description of the problem it sounds like a Pressure System fault (error code F3 E1). Hopefully it is just a problem with the pressure hose e.g. blocked, kinked, loose etc and not the transducer on the mainboard (detects water level by amount of air pressure in the hose created by water rising in the hose as the tub fills) as this would require a new mainboard.

Once you have determined what the problem is and if it is a faulty part, here's a link to a parts supplier that is useful.

Find the faulty part in the supplier's parts list and then search online using the manufacturer's part number for the part (not the parts supplier's number) to find suppliers that suit you best.

Thank you. I'll let you know!

So it was F7 E6 which tells me, according to the table is a motor issue. I cleared the defaults and calibrated. I did another small wash to see if the water levels changed and they did not.

So my next move, according to the instructions, is to do a manual test, for soft and hard agitate? OR is it new washer time?I don't understand what a motor fault would have to do with water level.

I'm still going to open up the main board and check the pressure hose connected to the main board to see if it's clear.

Yes do the manual soft and hard tests just to confirm or not if it is a motor problem.

It may be a mainboard problem though

Not entirely sure but I think that the mainboard "senses" how much resistance the motor is experiencing due to the amount of water and clothing etc by the amount of current required to drive the motor as well as knowing what the water level is or what it thinks it is because of the water level setting and the transducer information, but I may be wrong about this.

If this doesn't match what it expects then there may be a code for a problem with the motor because it thinks that somethings wrong with it, but maybe not.

Check the mainboard wiring harness connections to ensure that they're secure and also corrosion free.

@jayeff that makes sense. So I am now having an issue with the lock sensor ! I removed the locking mechanism from the lid and set it in place manually so I could see operate the machine with the lid up. I just screwed it back on and now the sensor seems not to be working! Guess I have to play around with that first!

Maybe I should just consider a new machine! Lol😊

You have an older washer. By now the agitator dogs are loose and broken. Most people will never notice this problem because everything appears normal. Agitator dogs will go out at least once in the lifespan of the washer. The agitator has two parts. The top and bottom. The top half turns in one direction only to pull clothes down from the center. The bottom half agitate back-and-forth to scrub clothes. When “the dogs” go bad, the top half of the agitator will not lock in place to move in one direction only. If you can stop the agitator by hand while clothes are being washed, you have bad dog agitators. They cost $5-$7 for a set of 4 and relatively easy to install in a whirlpool washer. Kenmore washers are more complex.

Hi @bestanswer,

Faulty agitator dogs won't affect the amount of water that is in the tub.

Lack of sufficient water is the problem posted by the OP

That's right. I took the lock mechanism off and watched. The agitators move correctly. It's the water level that is the problem. Thanks for the additional info. as I might have this problem at some point.😊
