Non-working trackpad buttons led me to do some research and find out that I have a exapnding battery that needs replacing. Would the 2020 battery replacement kit available on this site work?

Usually with a new design, laptops change the pinout or layout of the battery so it is unlikely that a kit for an earlier laptop will work on a newer one.
You could open up the laptop to find the battery's part number and search it up online on a site like eBay. Be sure you get a genuine replacement; generic ones have a tendency to screw up your computer.
