My ipod is showing charged and not working. It's changing and I'm not able to play anything

If restarting does not work, the battery may need replaced. See iPod Classic Battery Replacement guide to replace your battery.

It's a cliché, but try turning it off and on again. Fixes mine when it plays silly buggers. Press and hold the centre and menu buttons, then the screen will go off and it should reboot.
