Green tint on screen after powering on

I recently got a 2015 MacBook Pro for cheap,

everything was working fine the first five days, after that I noticed a green tint on the display.

This only occurs if the display has been off for about 40 minutes or more and it seems to get worse in cold environments, I've tested to see if this issue happens in hot weather and it becomes not noticeable or not existent.

Even in cold weather the display goes back to normal after 20 minutes of it being turned on. If facing directly at the screen the tint is barely noticeable, at an angle it's pretty visible.

Also ran Apple Diagnostics and everything came back with no errors. Opened up the machine and it has no signs of liquid damage.

These two images were taken after being inside a room with the AC turned on during the night and the computer being off.

I know the Retina Displays for this model of MacBook are expensive, I would like to try any other posible solution before having to buy a new screen.

This was an unfortunate issue that ended up being somewhat common on several models of MacBooks in the 2013-2015 year models. It is an issue with the display assembly, either in the LCD panel itself or the inverter board. Either way the fix is to replace the LCD assembly per the MacBook Pro 13" Retina Display Early 2015 Display Assembly Replacement guide. You could try replacing just the inverter board (the motherboard that is attached directly to the LCD panel but that will require desoldering the ribbon cables that connect the board to the LCD panel which is very difficult unless you know what you are doing and can solder surface mount components. Also sourcing the board appears difficult as I could not find one.

Welp, that's really unfortunate. At least now I know the culprit. Time to start looking for a display assembly.

The T-CON logic within the display breaks the signal from the system to the different pixels which in turn sets the color. What you are seeing is this logic is failing. To prove it plug in an external display it should stay fine when your internal goes green.
