I have purchased an Apple Mac Mini i3 A1993 2018 but it did not come with any connection cables except for the Power Lead, could you please let me know what I need to start up the Mac and recommend which ones are best; I will be using a Dell Optiplex Moniter.

You will need a Mini DisplayPort To VGA Adapter as well as a VGA to VGA straight through cable. Both can be found at a good electronics store or online.

There is no Mini Display port in the Mac Mini i3 A1993, so where could I plug in Mini DisplayPort To VGA Adapter?
I already have the VGA to VGA cable; but
is it necessary to have a wired connection to the moniter?

@ac2sde - The Thunderbolt port is dual use! It just fits. I have an older 2012 mini which I have hooked up to my TV via HDMI using the same connection, just using a different adapter.

But then should it not be an AVG adapter to Thunderbolt port, I should be able to connect that, but I will have to search for one.

@ac2sde - Is this a real old display which has composite video three push on RCA connectors color coded on the back? Most of the current crop have a D shaped VGA connector. There are composite video to DP adapters and even older DVI
No Dan, it is not the RCA colour coded.
I should have mentioned that I have the AVG Adapter from my previous set up for the A1347 Mac but it fitted into the Mac Mini DisplayPort and will not connect into the Thunderbolt Port on the A1993 Mac Mini,
Is there an an adapter for this to use on the old adapter, it would have to be a Female Mac Mini Display port to Thunderbolt; or failing that new AVG adapter might do.

It’s hard to say without knowing what ports the monitor has on it. Take a picture and add it to your original post so we’ll know what to recommend.

There are no ports whatsoever on the moniter, only the VGA socket; I will post the photograph tomorrow, Tuesday.
