I accidentally detached this part of my PS2. How do I reattach it?

Block Image

A couple months back, I was working on my PS2, which has had disc reading issues for a while. I took it apart to hopefully fix it, but from the looks of it, I only made things worse. Apparently, I detached one of the parts, and I don’t think I have what I need to reattach it. My best guess is that I’d need to solder it back together, but I don’t currently have one of those tools.

As foolish as it sounds, I’m gonna try to fix this thing on my own, since I don’t know where to get it fixed, and I might as well learn how to do it myself. I don’t think there’s any repair shops near me, and I have a cousin who repairs electronics, but he backed out of fixing my PS2, so I’m on my own from here. I have a slight idea of how things work, so I think that’s enough knowledge for me to do it on my own.

I just realized that the picture I uploaded is probably too low-quality to make out what it is. From the looks of it, it’s a ribbon cable attached to the part of the laser that slides up and down. There’s 4 prongs at the bottom, and they look like they’re supposed to be attached to the solder blobs at the bottom of the motherboard.

@andrewturn92987 kind of hard to see but it appears that you accidentally removed the connector from the board. It might be possible to just solder it back on, but we would need a more focused and zoomed in image to determine that. As well as one view showing the bottom of that board.

I really tried to take a picture with good quality, but the one I took before was exactly the same. I’ll try again, and hopefully it turns out better.

Edit: I just magnified the image, and the quality wasn’t too bad. However, if I need to take another picture with a better angle, I will.

@andrewturn92987 try one straight on the connector/cable end, the part that came off. Let's see what that looks like

I’ll add more pictures, but I might have to add them to the post, because I don’t think comments allow attachments.

I added another picture, but I don’t know if it’s any better than the last one. I took it off of my phone, and the focus was pretty poor, especially up close.

@andrewturn92987 from what I can see it looks like it is still in good enough shape to solder it back on. You not not need to find a board level microsoldering expert. Just somebody that has decent skills and tool. Just ask them to solder it back in place. If your solder points have come off, and that is a possibility, then just run some jumpers to re-establish connection.
