keys not working and external keyboard sorta works

Trying to fix my wife's laptop that the toddler spilled milk on.

Initial issue after leaving it to dry(off for a week) once powered on it was filling the login screen password box as if a key was being pressed. That lasted a few minutes while checking for a stuck key until it suddenly shut down and wouldn't power up.

I popped the back off expecting obvious damage on the logic board but found a swollen battery and nothing obviously wrong to my blind eyes.

Replaced battery and now boots when plugged in but no key appears to work, including power. Checked the connector several times and it's seated and locked in.

Track pad works, external keyboards(generic Dell usb and a Mac specific USB keyboard) sort of work. Several letters do not work and the letter h behaves as backspace.

I'm leaning towards it being the logic board with how the USB keyboards behave but is keyboard a suspect as well? I would think so with the milk being involved but don't want to waste time chasing the wrong thing.

Also would like help identifying the logic board if I need to go that route. Appears to be 2.5ghz with dual graphics but can't say for certain.

@rudyp56160 since the milk was spilled on the keyboard side, I would not expect anything to really show up on the bottom side of the logic board. The results of the spill will be/show on the top side. I recommend that you remove the logic board and at least clean it with some +90% isopropyl alcohol and a soft brush. Milk leaves some corrosive elements and the longer you wait the great your chance of further damage. Disassemble your MBP, clean it properly, reassemble and re-evaluate. If there are some issues with the keyboard after, replace that,

Whoa, slow down. I am not the last word on MAC's here on IFIXIT but I would imagine that just cleaning the keyboard - remove it from the computer first! - or if that doesn't work replacing the keyboard would solve your problem. Even if you plug in an external USB keyboard the onboard one will still cause problems if you don't fix it.
