2020 MacBook Air M1 Screen Replacement Not Booting to OS

I'm facing a perplexing issue with a customer's 2020 MacBook Air M1 after attempting to solve a display problem. Initially, the MacBook had backlight functioning but showed no image, and when connected to an external monitor, it worked fine. Before the screen went completely black, it displayed colored lines, leading me to conclude it needed an LCD replacement.

After replacing the LCD, the MacBook turns on but doesn't seem to boot into the OS. Typically, I'd check if it's booted by seeing if the caps lock LED lights up, which it does with the old screen. However, despite replacing the screen twice, the MacBook still won't boot into the OS, there's no output to external displays anymore, and the caps lock light won't illuminate. The MacBook is responsive to trackpad clicks, indicating it's on, but I can't figure out why it won't boot fully with the new screens.

Another weird thing that I noticed is that the USB C to HDMI adapter I use has a white led light on it that will illuminate when the computer is turned on. With the old screen, the LED illuminates as expected. With both of the new screens, the LED never illuminates, however the trackpad clicks when the power cable is plugged in to the adapter, indicating to me that the computer is receiving a charge successfully. When I switch the USB cable to the secondary charging port, the LED will blink, but never fully illuminate unless I put the old screen back on.

I have ordered two replacement screens, both display the same issue. I have even tried putting on a cracked replacement screen from another client's Macbook Air that I know for a fact displayed but was just cracked. That also refuses to display anything. I also changed the cable running from the motherboard to the screen with no luck.

I'm not sure why I am getting backlight but no image on her screen but it boots fine and no backlight or image on new screens and them not booting.

Has anyone experienced a similar issue or have any insights into what might be preventing the MacBook from booting properly after a screen replacement? Any troubleshooting tips or advice would be greatly appreciated!

Are you sure you are connecting m1 displays? Basically what you describe is what happens if you put Intel screen on M1. Black screen with backlight is in 99% cases bad screen, but no init / USB power is rather a short(m1 has different pinout) issue.

Oh my god. I feel so unbelievably stupid right now. I swear I had ordered a screen for a2337 and even searched for a2337 and it must have totally slipped past me because it looks like I ordered a screen for a2179. Thank you so much. I feel so silly.
