fingerprint sensor fail after battery change
I have this issue with a phone that after a battery change the fingerprint sensor stopped working. Any help appreciated

Check that the sensor is still securely connected to the charge port board.
Here's a teardown video for the phone, that may help.
At 3:45 minutes into the video, the fingerprint sensor can be seen being disconnected from the charge port board. At 4:11 minutes the sensor can be seen being removed from the phone.
If for whatever reason the sensor is faulty, search online for GH96-13406A to find suppliers that suit you best.

It is not listed separately but try dialing the test menu code and select Sensor and check if the fingerprint sensor test is mentioned. If there is hopefully it will test to see that it is OK.
It is unusual that whilst it is shown on p.1 in the block diagram of the SM A415F service manual, there's no troubleshooting flowchart shown for it, unlike other features and functions of the phone, see p.4 thru to p.23.
Have you tried deleting any fingerprints stored in the phone and then try registering yours again? Go to Settings → Biometrics and Security and delete any fingerprints shown

I have tried changing the sensor but it does not seem to make a difference and the fingerprint sensor needs a calibration according to the phone regardless of which fingerprint sensor I use.
The phone won't allow existing prints to be deleted
Was there a Sensor test in the test menu codes at all, you never said?
If there was what did it show when testing the sensor?
