Where is the power steering pump?

Hello! lately when I turn the steering wheel the pump makes more and more noise. The hydraulic steering liquid level is ok, so I think I need to replace the power steering pump. But I've seen there's different pumps depending if the van has climate control system or just A/C, also depends on the gearbox (manual / automatic) so I think the best I can do is to find the power steering pump, check the OEM reference and then replace it, what do you think? Where can I find it? Thank you

@ruben88453 help us to help you. what year and what exact model is your Transporter? Does it have AC or climate control? Consider opening the hood and taken a couple pictures from the top and a few from the bottom. Post those with your Question. Let's see if we can figure this all out. 기존 질문에 이미지 추가하기

The PS pump is on the passenger side on the bottom of the engine. Yes, you will need to remove the AC compressor.

Hello @oldturkey03 ! first of all thanks for your answer

I wasn't finding the steering pump because I didn't imagine it was attached to the engine body, but now I found it.

If it helps anyone else, I will explain why I was looking for that part.

Steering wheel is getting harder to turn and it makes more and more noise every time...

Then I found out the 2.5 tdi 130hp 2005 VW transporter T5 with A/C (not climate control) and manual transmission, has a common problem.

Eventually, in this exact engine model (also in 2.5 tdi VW Touareg) when steering pump gets old or damaged, it can communicate engine oil with hydraulic steering oil system.

Fortunately, it seems it only happens this way, not viceversa (otherwise my engine would be dead)

I could check steering liquid was totally black, not green/brown so that confirmed the suspect...

So I need to replace the steering pump which is damaged because has been working with dirty fluids, then clean the steering hydraulic ducts and good to go!

Thank you again for your support :)
