PlayStation 2 slim SCPH - 75003. „The disc could not be read.”

Hi guys,

 

I have a problem with my PlayStation 2 slim SCPH - 75003. The issue is „The disc could not be read.” It doesn’t happens all the time. Actually right now it is most of the time, but after few times to lunch a game it starts. But after power of on the issue is there again. I checked the switches which are confirming that the disk lead is closed and they looks fine. I opened the PS 2 to check woh the issue looks like and I see that the disc is spinning but after a while it is stopping. Does anybody has a clue what can be the issue here? I will attach the video of to here bellow:

@sentinellkrk since you get the error „The disc could not be read” you will either have to clean your laser or replacing it. I'd start with cleaning it. Get any of the commercially available disk lens cleaners and run it a couple of times. You can also try and adjust your laser. Be careful with this and make sure that it you go this route that you measure your pot values before adjusting them. You can easily burn out your laser by going wild on it. SInce there is no good guide out for this (yet) follow something like these intructions

While you work on your PS2, take lots of pictures. Once you are done with it, take those pictures and create a guide for iFixit. That will help the next person that has a device with the same issues as you do. It's easy and fun to create these guides. https://ifixit.com/Guide/new The iFixit community will appreciate this.
