I went to delete everything on the entire ipod touch so my daughter could have it and the the start up screen with the apple on it with the thinking wheel is all the further it will go and the wheel does not even turn? so I thought if I let the battery die and then connect it to my computer that maybe it would start up again but it just goes right back to that screen?

wendy, give this a try. Open iTunes and plug your iPod in, hold the power button for 2 seconds then press the home button while continuing to hold the power button for 10 more seconds. Your computer should make a sound that it does when a USB Device has been unplugged, continue to hold the home button until you hear the sound your computer makes when a USB device is plugged in. iTunes should now say that it found an iPod in restore mode. there is some more great information here. The other things you can try are software like iReb and iRecovery. Hope this helps, good luck, and

Hey HB,
Have you tried doing a Hard Reset? Just hold down the home (circle) button along with the lock button at the top for ~15 seconds. :)
