No service after a few drops

I'm a clumsy boy, and often drop my phone when I don't intend to. Recently I have been experiencing an issue where I have zero bars and no service whatsoever, not even emergency calls. Done all the shabang, checked sim card in other phones, new sim, factory reset etc, so I'm guessing it's a hardware issue. Is there any way this can be fixed, perferably cheaply, and is it possible for a well educated technician to do it and retain some level of water tight seal?

@swanny21445 "is it possible for a well educated technician to do it", Yes. "retain some level of water tight seal" Maybe.

The very first area that you want to check, are your antenna cables. Those connect to the sub_board (daughterboard) Make sure they are all seated right and that there is no crack on that board. I Personally would even consider replacing it. Then check the flex cables from the daughterboard to the Main board. Check for tears and cracks in the connector etc. After that you are looking at a board issue.

Since iFixit does not yet have a guide for this, use something like this video or use the guide from here It is written in Spanish so make sure that your browser can translate it for you. Replacement daughter boards are readily available at many online stores.

While you work on your phone, take lots of pictures. Once you are done with it, take those pictures and create a guide for iFixit. That will help the next person that has a device with the same issues as you do. It's easy and fun to create these guides. https://ifixit.com/Guide/new The iFixit community will appreciate this.

Thanks, this is really useful. My CP says "A528XXXXXXXX" does that mean it's likely just a loose connector that can be easily reseated inside? If so I mighty even have a crack at it myself. How do people handle atleast splash resistance when repairing devices like this, does Ifixit sell adhesive that will be able to provide at least some protection if I get caught in the rain.

@swanny21445 yes it could. Check those first. If they are seated right, continue down the flowchart

Bril, Thanks for your response. I am really hesitent to open my phone, becasue I really like it being rainproof. Is there anything you would do to try and mitigate the total destruction of any seal?

@swanny21445 not a whole lot you can do as it will depend on who does it. I would definitely suggest a water-resistant adhesive.

@oldturkey03 Is there any specific adhesive you would recommend for resealing the back pannel?
