Given the age of the laptop, it's just about near the end of its life. That said, you can still likely get another year out of it before replacing it by putting an SSD like this, or at least until October 2025, when Win10 goes EOL. You will have to remember you put an SSD in it and pull the drive when you retire the laptop unless you want to make someone like me happy to get a drive worth more than the laptop, which is already at the end of its life when they're 10+ years old, and I'm getting to it.

Refer to the HMM to install the SSD.

Hi @rudradevloper

Try updating the memory to 8GB and replace the HDD with an SSD.

The laptop supports a maximum a 8GB in one memory slot, i.e. 1 x 8GB DDR3 1333MHz PC310600 or DDR3 1600MHz PC312800 SODIMM ram module.

It also supports a 2.5" 7mm sata SSD with a capacity of up to 4TB (4000GB)

Here's the hardware maintenance manual for the laptop.

Go to p.35 and p.37 to view the procedure to remove/replace the HDD and the memory module, respectively.

Search online for how to upgrade a HDD to an SSD without losing data so that there is a seamless upgrade.

You really can't find 1333MHz RAM anymore; OP will need 1600MHz DDR3L, which will run at 1.5V and downclock to match the SB RAM speed limitations, which is where the 1333MHz limit comes from. It will probably only net an extra year before replacing it (accounting for ~5 months of advance migration time to a new laptop).

@nick

Fair enough. Just quoting the specs as to what it can handle.

Cheers

@jayeff Heh I'm going to have to make a call soon with someone's 9th gen system when 2025 comes close; I CAN upgrade it (I'm waiting until it's closer to October), but I also have to account for the fact that it's older and may be in it's final days in another year or two.

It already has an SSD+HD configuration, so that's not an issue. I just call EOL early (I have two targets: 10 years, but I do have to make exceptions). I have to make the call with someone who has a machine with a i5-9400 soon, but it has an SSD+HD setup and I can upgrade the OS to 11. I call it early with them and shoot for 7-8 years max when I can with them because they don't maintain the hardware.
