Does replacing the logic board bypass iCloud lock

I have a iPhone 7 I’m dealing with an iCloud lock the locks stored on the board from what I know so does replacing a logic board bypass the iCloud lock fully i have a logic board that’s fully unlocked I just need to know how to replace it and how to reinstall the adhesive that goes around the screen

The story is I got this from a friend who has no access to it he says it’s fully functioning and wiped it’s just he cannot access it due to lack of proof that he purchased it he heard about me and how I fix old phones and tablets and says if I fix it I can keep it as he already has the 12 so I’m asking here for help

(I added this for information I told apple what I told you they like aways said that it’s unfixable and it’s better off I dump it and get a new one)

Thanks for the help appreciated

Hi Aaden,

You are quite right with your assumption that the iCloud lock is tied to the logic board, so yes, swapping out the motherboard with one that is unlocked will indeed get you a functional phone. The biggest caveat to that is that you will need the home button from that same phone, as it is paired to the motherboard. If you don't take it you'll lose the Touch ID fingerprint detection for good since Apple is the only one who can pair the home button to your logic board.

The Logic Board Replacement guide takes you step by step through the procedure to remove and replace that part.

If the donor phone where you got the logic board has a working, intact display then the easiest thing would be to simply swap over that screen along with the attached home button. Otherwise you'll have to very carefully remove it from the original screen and transplant it onto the screen of the iCloud locked phone. Luckily for you, there's also a guide for that operation as well!

iPhone 7 Home/Touch ID Sensor Replacement - iFixit Repair Guide

And finally, you've expressed concern about replacing the display adhesive, and iFixit has you covered there as well; there's a guide for that, too!

iPhone Display Adhesive Replacement - iFixit Repair Guide

And of course you can support iFixit's repair efforts by purchasing the precut adhesive that should be about all you need to complete your repair right here on this site.

iPhone 7 Display Assembly Adhesive

That should be everything you need for a successful repair, other than tools if you don't have what you need. Each guide lists the tools used and provides links to sources (usually here on iFixit) where you can buy them.

Good luck, and be sure to come on back and let us know how it all turns out!

Thank you this is very helpful with the overall anti repair design of the iphones it’s definitely served some questions and your help certainly made this possible all I need is to get to work and I will keep you updated

Thank you And ifixit

@aadendonia Yes, and it only gets worse from where you are on out. Outside of Face ID/Touch ID, the iPhone X is the last phone they make where you can replace common parts like the screen and battery without losing functionality and/or getting bogus genuine parts warnings. The newer the model, the more repair restrictions (paired parts) it has.
