Why Tracker in FixHub App?

Dear iFixit team,

why does the FixHub app use 3 tracker? (Google, Functional Software and Collective Roll)

From my point of view, spying on the name, surname, gender and city is not very polite!

Thanks for bringing this up! iFixit is committed to user privacy and does not collect personally identifiable information such as name, gender, or specific location unless we need it to fulfill an order.

  • Google Analytics: We use it for aggregate usage stats. This helps us understand what languages we should support, how many fixers are using the app, and things of the like.
  • Functional Software: This is Sentry.io, our error monitoring tool. It logs technical issues (like app crashes) but doesn’t collect or store personal user information.
  • Collective Roll: We’re not using or aware of a service called “Collective Roll.” The reference might be a misidentification by tracker-detection tools.

We minimize trackers as much as we can, and only track data to enhance site performance and user experience. Our Privacy Policy has more details.

Hi Kris,

thank you very much for your answer.

"unless we need to fulfill an order" is more than enough for me to get rid of the app especially having the acctual political situation in the US in mind.

App deleted and thank god the hub is fully functional without it.
