How Do I Reset The Intrusion Switch?

Upon opening the device, an ambient light sensor inside will trip, and forcefully shut the device down. I can't for the life of me find a way to reliably reset this sensor, and it has made my very nice laptop into an expensive brick. I did manage to get it to boot, just once, but had to take the bottom cover off to adjust a cable to I could put the screw back in, and it tripped the sensor again. Is there a solution to this problem?

Hi @ashleywall48429

Check in BIOS for a chassis intrusion detection setting and if there is one disable it.

Try the following:

Disconnect the charger if connected and then open the laptop and disconnect the battery from the motherboard i.e. just unplug the battery cable.

Press and hold the laptop's Power button operated for a full 30 seconds and then release it.

Reconnect the battery cable to the motherboard, reassemble the laptop, connect the charger and check if it now turns on and that you can get into BIOS.

Therein lies the issue, it doesn't even respond to power when the system is tripped. I can't get it to show a power light without repeatedly taking the bottom cover off, reseating the battery, and trying again for several hours.

The ambient light sensor is on the USB daughter board. It seems to only be enabled when the battery is connected and is tripped when the cover is off and both battery and charger are connected. You need to drain power as suggested by jayeff and DO NOT CONNECT THE CHARGER until the back cover is on.
