It really depends which model you have and what year it is. Having checked multiple manuals, I would suggest that you at bare minimum have a:

15mm and/or an 18mm wrench for the caliper bracket bolts.

The guide bolts can be either a T40 or T45 Torx bit. It is also possible that you have Allen bolts for the guide, those can be 7mm and/or 9mm

You may also need a either 32mm or 34mm socket for the spindle nut, depending on your model. You may rent those from places like Autozone etc. You will of course also need the tools to remove your wheel. Personally, if you are inclined to perform further repairs by yourself, I'd suggest purchasing quality metric wrench and socket sets, instead of individual pieces. Hope this helps, good luck.

Assuming the rotors are similar to my 2006 Focus, he won't need a socket for the spindle nut. If that does have to come off, though, he'll need an impact wrench to put it back on. I've dealt with premature wheel bearing failure due to a spindle nut that wasn't tightened enough—no fun at all.

Well it's a 2005 escape! We tried a 3/8-9mm it doesn't fit

It's a 7mm on 05 escape xtl 4x4

I was gonna get new guide pins from pep boys ( advance an autozone had to order them ) when I was there to get them the guy was trying to show me they were 7mm and hanging right there was 9mm Allen socket. Again advance and auto zone did not have it, nor sears lowes or Home Depot. The guide bolts looked cheap so I told him keep them now I found the 9mm and the ones on my car looked hardened. Did the brake job last night. New rotors and ceramic pads. Did not need to remove the spindle nut to replace the rotor. Just the caliper bracket. (18mm hex ). Bought the escape used 102000 and brakes looked recently done but stopping over 45 mph made the wheel and whole vehicle shake. After replacing with ceramic pads it fixed that problem. Looks like semi metallic were used. Ceramic are much better, quiter, lot less dust, and lasts twice to three times as long. Now that's done I got one more problem. Driver side seatbelt doesn't like to release. Saw a bunch of others have this problem too. Anyone know of a recall or an inexpensive way to handle this?

Likely the rotors were warped and not an issue with the pads.

On 2006 after 3 trips to auto parts store it must be 9 mm. Will try again on Saturday. 7, 8, and 10 mm in the set wont work. Why the set came without a 9 is bs.

Working on mine today I had the same problem. 1 trip to lowes and one to advance auto to realize yes it is a 9mm Allen on the 06 Escape. I also found out they left the 9mm out of most of the sets and a lot places don't even carry it. That's gonna be tomorrow's fun, running around to find it. First stop will be sears ( craftsman ) hopefully does

Before starting repair on your auto if you are going to keep it for a while invest in a repair manual. Also Auto Zone has a how to section on repairs. You can also clean these bolts with scotch brite pads and use some anti seize.

FYI, Just did an R&R on the front rotors and pads on a 2007 Ford Escape ( FWD, front disc/rear drum ) . Caliper bracket bolts were 18mm and slide pins were 7mm hex. These were the original OEM rotors/pads @102K miles, needless to say, not a whole lot of meat on them!! Additionally the outer spring clips were the steal wire type vs the flat stamped version.

The rotors were a royal PITA to remove, lots of PB blaster and hammering. I cleaned and applied a minimal amount of anti seizure to the hub for the benefit of the next guy
