Background and Identification
Bronchoscopy is the endoscopic procedure of visualizing and diagnosing the airways and inner tissue of the lungs. In this procedure, bronchoscopes are used to let the doctor see a patient’s lungs and airways. The bronchoscopes are usually inserted through the nose or mouth, but on some occasions it can be inserted via tracheostomy. Bronchoscopes are generally long and flexible tubes, but rigid bronchoscopes are used if a large object is blocking the airways or if the lungs are bleeding.
