Background & Identification
A classic Rubik's Cube, has six faces. Each face has nine sticker-covered pieces. Face colors include white, red, blue, orange, green, and yellow. Some current versions of the cube have been updated to use colored plastic panels, which prevents peeling and fading.
Whether you want to lubricate the pieces for faster turning, rearrange the cubes to ensure that it's solvable, or are just curious, taking apart your Rubik's cube can seem like a daunting task. However, you can usually disassemble the cube in under 20 minutes. Just remember to work slowly and carefully, to prevent damaged pieces.
Once the Rubik’s cube is disassembled, the bolt on the six-sided center piece can be loosened or tightened for tension adjustment. You can decide whether to assemble it in solved position or scrambled. To ensure smooth turning prevent broken pieces, you can use lube designed specifically for Rubik’s cubes other silicone-based lubes. It’s important to allow the cubes to dry for at least 10 minutes to ensure that the lubricant doesn’t make the Rubik’s cube too easy to turn.
An incorrect reassembly could result in an unsolvable cube because the pieces were put together randomly. To fix a rotated edge and/or corner, solve the cube as far as possible until you reach a point where a piece is turned wrong. Take out the wrong pieces and insert them back into the cube so that the colors of the faces are the same.
