Background and Identification

The Sansa e200 series is a portable media player developed and sold by SanDisk, a brand of Western Digital for flash memory products including memory cards and readers, USB flash drives, and solid-state drives. The Sansa e200 series was released in January 2006 and was available with four different capacities of Flash memory: 2 GB (e250), 4 GB (e260), 6 GB (e270), and 8 GB (e280).

All Sansa media players include 1.8-inch liquid-crystal displays (LCDs) with resolutions of 176 by 220 pixels. Certain files must be converted with the Sansa Media Converter Windows software if the files are not in a format accepted by the player’s original firmware. The Media Converter converts images to bitmap format (.bmp) and videos to MJPEG (.mov container) for v1 Sansa models. In v2 models, videos will be converted to DivX and images will be resized. Users cannot simply copy videos to the device, even if they appear to be in the correct format; trying to access copied videos will result in an error message.

SanDisk Sansa e200 media players are powered by user-replaceable Lithium-ion batteries. They also include built-in expansion slots for microSD cards, an FM tuner with a recording function (available only in certain regions), and a microphone for voice recording.
