This guide provides instructions for removing and replacing the gear in the Bendix Magneto: S6RN-23. The Magneto is an elecrical generator that uses magnets to create electrical current pulses. It is often used in ignition systems. A broken gear can stop the Bendix Magneto from rotating, causing incorrect timing of the system. This would cause an engine to either run erraticly or stop altogether.

Use a #2 flat head screwdriver to remove the five screws from the body of the Magneto.

Locate the spark plug lead.
Use Milbar snap ring pliers to remove the snap ring.
The snap ring can be difficult to remove. Make sure the pliers go into the holes of the snap ring.
Wear safety goggles when removing the snap ring. The snap ring can shoot out on accident.
